ANNE WALDMAN

The American poet and performer Anne Waldman has a long history as a leading figure of the second generation of the New York School. Her poetry is also connected with the Beat Generation.

Being a close friend of Allen Ginsberg and Burroughs, a practising Buddhist, a tireless publisher and even an actress in Bob Dylan's 1976 film "Renaldo and Clara", she has always believed that there are certain states of consciousness and experience that have to be expressed according to their nature. Therefore, performance has been her ally for many years, an alliance born out of the physical need to make "something big" out of words. In 2011, she was elected Chancellor of the Academy of American Poets.

In 2022, our publishing house Arrebato will publish an anthology of her poetic work, translated by Mariano Antolín Rato.
